This paper studies the asymptotic (large sample) performance of a series of non data assisted feedforward (NDA FF) nonlinear least squares (NLS) carrier frequency estimators with burst mode phase shift keying (PSK) modulation over AWGN and flat Ricean fading channels. The asymptotic performance of these estimators is established in the closed form expression and compared with the modified cram ` er Rao bound (MCRB). This paper also proposes an optimal linear unbiased estimator (blue), which has the minimum asymptotic variance in the NDA FF NLS type estimator family
