< p > In this paper, an adaptive algorithm is developed to estimate mmwave channel parameters, which takes advantage of the poor scattering characteristics of the channel. In order to make the algorithm work effectively, a novel layered multiresolution codebook is designed to construct training beamforming vectors with different beamwidths. For single path channel, the upper bound of estimation error probability using the proposed algorithm is derived, and some opinions on the effective allocation of training power between adaptive stages of the algorithm are obtained. p >
