English Description:

An optimal control strategy based on the linearquadratic regulator approach is proposed for single-phaseuninterruptible power supplies in continuous time. Theobjective of the controller is to achieve a fast transientresponse, good voltage regulation, and low total harmonicdistortion of the output voltage under linear and nonlinearloads. It is shown that these objectives can be met providedthat the optimal feedback gains minimizing a cost functionare utilized in the closed-loop system. These gains arechosen taking into consideration the poles of the system andinput limitation. Simulation and experimental results arepresented to verify the performance of the proposed controlmethod under linear and nonlinear loads.
