hi This project proposes the use of shunt active power filters for harmonic current reduction produced due to non linear loads in the power system by instantaneous p-q theory and synchronous d-q reference frame method and also reactive power compensation. The shunt active filter is generally used instead of passive filters to improve power quality by injecting compensating currents and also for the compensation of current harmonics and reactive power .
